How to Define a Customer Avatar for Personal Development.

Some of the Key topics covered During the Internship Session 2 were.

The Learn Do Teach Triangle

 LDT01

We must follow the Golden Triangle of

Learn, Do and Teach.

i.e Learn a Concept, then try to implement what we have learnt (doing), followed by teaching so that the concepts are reinforced.

When you teach, you understand things in a better way.

We must not treat mistakes as failure but as a lesson to learn from.

Mistakes are future benefits. The value of which is yet to be realized.

If you do not take risk to make a mistake you cannot learn anything.

Marketing.

Marketing is basically about good conversations. You must have conversations as if you are talking to your friend.

If you can’t converse well 1:1, you cannot converse 1: many.

The same style should be incorporated in your Webinars, and Email communication with your prospects.

Your communication should be in simple language which even a 4th grade student can understand. Very heavy use of vocabulary should be avoided as it could turn off your potential Customers.

With Sales you build trust with a Single person. With marketing it is with a lot of people.  Marketing is about building Mass Trust with the audience.

Some people have different personas. They exhibit one with family, one with friends and one at social gatherings.

One has to be the same way with family, friends and social gatherings.

People are tired of fake people who have different personas when they are with different people.

People are tired of seeing people with fake social personas. They are looking for someone who is authentic. People should be able to relate to themselves when the speaker talks. We need to express our opinion irrespective of its outcomes. Initially people may dislike you for what you are, but in the long run you will be appreciated.

Who is a better Marketer?

A person with more life experiences are better marketers.

You should Travel. Learn new Languages. And do new things all the time to learn more.

Customer Avatar.

Who is your Audience?

If everyone is your audience, then no one is your audience.

It is important to find a section of Audience who is your ideal customer, to sell your products and services to.

How to Define your Target Customer

Focus on the center, not on the border.

As you move away from the center, it will dilute your focus.

That is Focus on your ideal prospect, because they are most likely to convert.

For example: At a crowded bus stand if you shout hey everybody, not many respond.

But if you shout Hey Doctors more will respond, because it is more specific.

Basically, you will reach you ideal Customer Avatar, through the Demographics and Psychographics.

Demographics may include the following

Age.

Gender.

Income level.

Location.

Level of education, etc.

Psychographics is the study of consumers based on their

Activities.

Interests.

Opinions.

If we know our audience well, we can become better communicator or marketer. We survey a group of people and come up with our ideal customer avatar.

We write all our communications keeping this Customer Avatar in mind. To know about audience, we should know about their demographics and psychographics.

The following are the points to remember when we write content or ads:

  • Write to a single customer at a time and speak to him as if you are speaking to a friend.

  • Though we are writing to a huge audience, everyone is alone with their device. Connect them with one-on-one.

  • Join the conversation people already have in their mind. Do not start a new topic.

  • E-mail/ Messaging is more powerful than social media.

  • Have a simple language when you communicate with your prospect.

Initially the customer avatar may not be very clear but eventually we develop our correct Customer Avatar.

The better you understand your customer the better your content will be.

Notes on Learning

  • Awkwardness is an Indicator of Learning.
  • A little discomfort is always present when learning something new.
  • Challenges what you already know and creates new beliefs and way of thinking.
  • It creates a new path in your neural network
